Hellenic Diaspora Group Condemns Islamic Terror Attacks in France

Horrific assaults in Nice and Paris are strongly denounced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  October 29, 2020

(Hollywood, Fla.) In response to recent Islamic attacks in France, the Hellenic Diaspora Group is sharing their unequivocal condemnation of these violent acts, as well as their support of the people of France.

On October 18 in Paris, middle school history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded by Abdoulakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old Russian-born Chechen. Paty was attacked after word spread on social media that he had shown his students caricatures of the prophet Muhammad during a lesson on free speech. On October 29, a Muslim extremist from Tunisia attacked and killed three people inside the Notre Dame Basilica in Nice. A 60-year-old woman, 55-year-old man and 44-year-old woman fell victim to the violence.

“This senseless cruelty has no place on our planet,” shared Ioanna Lazarou, President of the Hellenic Diaspora Group. “As leader of the Hellenic Diaspora Group, I speak for the entire organization when I say we strongly condemn this kind of terror and violence spread by extremist Islam fanatics. This is an attack on the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion in France. We stand with the people of France in solidarity and support. These four victims will not be forgotten in our hearts and minds.”
