Hellenic Diaspora Group Denounces Attacks to Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenian War

Organization condemns Azerbaijan’s aggression and Turkey’s expansion

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:                                                          November 1st, 2020

(Hollywood, Fla.) The Hellenic Diaspora Group is declaring their strong denunciation of the Azerbaijan and Turkey attacks to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian people. In the wake of these attacks, the Hellenic Diaspora Group offers their brotherly support to the Armenians.

The area of Nagorno-Karabakh has been under the control of Armenian forces since 1994. But fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan over this land fired back up on September 27. Since then, hundreds of people have died. Turkey has backed the Azerbaijan with military assistance and armed drones. It is the strong belief of the Hellenic Diaspora Group that this land rightfully belongs to Armenians.

Hospitals and orphanages in the cities of Stepanakert and Shushi were also bombed recently by Azeri troops. In addition, just days ago in Lyon, France, groups of Turkish and Azeri forces hunted down Armenians in the city and killed them. All of these attacks signify a new genocide for Armenians that is reminiscent of the 1915 genocide.

“This fighting should serve as a wake-up call to Greeks that Tayyip Erdoğan is leading Turkey in a fight to recreate the old Ottoman Empire,” explained Ioanna Lazarou, President of the Hellenic Diaspora Group. “Once Turkey finishes with Armenia, it is our fear that Greece will be their next target. The enemy isn’t just near Greece, but inside it, with Armenia being the step before Greece like Syria was the step before Armenia. On behalf of Greeks everywhere, the Hellenic Diaspora Group stands with our brothers the Armenians and support them strongly. We are deeply dissatisfied with the Greek Media, as they silently support the Turkish actions, and they hide the truth.”
